A Short History: The Bemis Cross Country club started around 2010. The late Bill Beach and current head coach at Ford High School, Coach Allmacher, started up the club in order to generate interest in the sport of cross country and develop a love for running. Coach Beach ran this club until 2016, when he retired. Hired in Summer 2017, Coach Greb wished to continue Beach's passion for running and grow the cross country program at Bemis Jr. High.

The numbers have grown significantly since the first season (Fall 2017) under Coach Greb. It struggled to put together 10 runners on a regular basis. With a additional exposure, the club saw a massive jump to 35 kids for the Fall 2018 season; this included 8-10 kids showing up on a regular basis over the summer to run!

We invite you to explore our site and discover the challenges and adventures that the Bemis Cross Country club provides to each and every student. The future looks exciting for this club. We look to grow this club into one of the most competitive clubs in the county and push every student to be the best they can be.

WHAT IS CROSS COUNTRY?

Cross country is a running sport in which teams and individuals compete among each other. One difference from track is the terrain; it includes hills, fields, woods, trails, and much more! In middle school, the cross country races are generally anywhere from 1.5 miles to 2 miles long. The races are exciting as the middle school runners are often competing with hundreds of kids from other schools.

In cross country, the top 5 runners for each team scores depending on their places. For each team, the top 5 runners places are added up for a team score. The lower the score, the higher you place. The team with the lowest score wins.
